AFRICAN TIGERFISH
(Hydrocynus vittatus)
The African Tigerfish is one of Africa’s most iconic freshwater game fish, renowned for its ferocity, strength, and acrobatic fights.
It belongs to the Hydrocynus genus, which means “water dog,” a fitting name for its aggressive predatory behaviour.
Its most distinguishing features include a torpedo-shaped body, striking silver scales, and a fearsome set of sharp, interlocking teeth that resemble those of a piranha.
