Triggerfish are reef-dwelling fish known for their strong jaws and territorial behaviour, along with having some of the most unique markings and colours, making them a sought-after catch.

There are three main species found in the Seychelles:

Yellowmargin Triggerfish: The Yellowmargin is a larger triggerfish, sometimes called the Giant or Titan Triggerfish. 
They are known for their pinkish-orange or yellow colours with black bands. They are often found near coral “bommiers” on sandy flats.

Moustache Triggerfish: This species is characterised by a black “moustache” on its upper lip. 
They can be found in the surf zone or inside the lagoon.

Picasso Triggerfish: The smallest of the three, the Picasso triggerfish is known for its bright and colourful markings. 
It’s a reef-dwelling species.

They feed on hard-shelled invertebrates. Anglers use bait like squid or crustaceans, often fishing near reefs or rocky areas.
