TANZANIAN TIGERFISH

(Hydrocyon tanzaniae)

The Tanzanian Tigerfish is one of the most elusive and formidable freshwater predators in Africa.
This species is endemic to the eastward-draining rivers of Tanzania, especially the Ruaha-Rufiji River system.
It is a close relative of the more widely known Goliath Tigerfish (Hydrocynus goliath) and shares many of its dramatic physical features, most notably, its enormous, protruding, dagger-like teeth and torpedo-shaped body.
